LOU ANN
K. Karloff © 2006

Everyone said that we was too young,
but I was too young to care what they said.
Then chose a road that took you so far away
from everything you’d ever known.

My Lou Ann

And the months turned into years.
Now the years go by like days.
Who would have thought we’d be standing right here?
Just you and me, I’d have to say

My Lou Ann

There were times
with hardly enough
to feed the kids.
Out the streets, I worked anything I could find.
Many times
I felt ashamed
to show my face
God only knows how we survived.

There were times
it didn’t seem
we would last the night
I musta found every way to let you down.

But through your love
I finally came
to understand
that it’s plenty fine, just being alive
